Located in the heart of Shrewsbury, within a converted old church, St Nicholas is home to a licensed cafe, mezze-bar and grill and nine luxury boutique hotel rooms.

Our Story

We are a family run business, led by husband and wife team, Eddie and Tracey Uyan, and their three children. We first joined St Nicholas in July 2016 and have since developed the ground floor into a thriving bar and grill, and the top two floors into luxury boutique hotel rooms.

History

There has been a church on this spot since the 12th century. The original building was knocked down and the Presbytarian Chapel of St Nicholas was built and opened in December 1870. This remained until the mid 1970’s when the congregation relocated to new premises.

Since then, the building has been used as offices, a gym, a cafe bar and spa and most recently, a luxury hotel. Many of the original architectural features remain, including the stunning archways, carved pillars and stained glass windows.

Town of Flowers

Shrewsbury is a medieval market town, situated in Shropshire, close to the Welsh border. Charles Darwin was born and raised in Shrewsbury and you can see many references to him around the town.

Every year, Shrewsbury hosts the Shrewsbury Flower Festival and the Shrewsbury Folk Festival, both of which prove to be extremely popular. Even with one foot in the past, Shrewsbury remains modern with its many vibrant and independent local businesses and exciting nightlife.
